Clutch Pedal Assembly

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the clutch pedal position sensor electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder push rod (1) from the clutch pedal pin (2).

  3. Remove the clutch fluid reservoir (1) hose from the clutch pedal assembly, then plug hose.

  4. Disconnect the clutch actuator pipe assembly (2) from the clutch pedal assembly.
  5. Remove the clutch pedal fasteners (3) from the cowl.
  6. Remove the two clutch pedal fasteners (1) from the I/P.

  7. Remove the clutch pedal assembly from the vehicle.
  8. If replacing the pedal, transfer components as necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the clutch pedal assembly into the vehicle.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution.
  3. Install the fasteners (1) securing the clutch pedal assembly to the I/P and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).

  4. Install the fasteners (3) securing the clutch pedal assembly to the cowl and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

  5. Connect the clutch pedal position sensor electrical connector.
  6. Connect the clutch master cylinder push rod (1) to the clutch pedal pin (2).

  7. Connect the clutch actuator pipe assembly (2) to the clutch pedal assembly.

  8. Connect the clutch fluid reservoir hose (1) to the clutch pedal assembly.
  9. Check for proper clutch pedal movement and operation.
  10. Bleed the clutch system, Refer to Hydraulic Clutch System Bleeding
  11. Warning: Replacement or reprogramming of the ECM, or replacement of the clutch pedal position sensor (CPPS) or clutch pedal requires that a CPPS learn procedure be performed. Failure to perform the CPPS learn procedure may result in personal injury or damage to the vehicle or its components if the vehicle is in gear and the starter motor is accidentally engaged.
  12. Perform the clutch pedal position sensor learn procedure. For the V-6 engine refer to Clutch Pedal Position Learn or Clutch Pedal Position Learn for the V-8 engine.

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder push rod (1) from the clutch pedal pin (2).

  2. Remove the clutch pedal return spring (1) from the clutch pedal assembly as follows:

    1. Remove the center of the spring from the center spring bushing.
    2. Remove the outer ears of the spring from the outer spring bushings.
  3. Remove the clutch pedal return spring bushings from the clutch pedal assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the clutch pedal return spring bushings to the clutch pedal assembly.
  2. Note: Correct spring orientation is critical for proper clutch pedal operation.
  3. Install the clutch pedal return spring (1) to the clutch pedal assembly as follows:

    1. Insert the outer ears of the spring into the outer spring bushings.
    2. While holding the clutch pedal fully depressed to the floor place the center of the spring into the center spring bushing.
  4. Move the clutch pedal through the full range of motion to check for proper clutch pedal spring operation.
  5. Connect the clutch master cylinder push rod (1) to the clutch pedal pin (2).
