Convertible Top Hydraulic Hose

Warning: Refer to Eye Protection Warning.
Caution: Always put an automatic transmission in P (Park) or a manual transmission in N (Neutral) and set the park brake before raising or lowering the convertible top. If you raise or lower the convertible top while the vehicle is in motion, you could damage the top or the top mechanism.
Caution: Do not lower the top in cold weather. If you lower the convertible top on the vehicle in cold weather (0°C (32°F) or lower), you may damage convertible top components.
Caution: Always verify that no objects are in the storage area before lowering the convertible top. Lowering the convertible top when there are objects in the storage area could damage it or break the glass rear window.
Caution: Dry off the convertible top before lowering it. Lowering the convertible top if it is damp, wet, or dirty can cause stains, mildew, and damage to the inside of the vehicle.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Hydraulic cylinder hoses can not be repaired it MUST be replaced.
  2. Place the folding top in the full up position.
  3. Place all the windows in the full down position.
  4. Disconnect the power to the folding top motor to prevent the folding top operating.
  5. The folding top hydraulic cylinder hose bracket does not need to be removed for this procedure.
  6. Remove the folding top cylinder on the side being serviced. Refer to Folding Top Cylinder Replacement.
  7. Remove the folding top pump with motor. Refer to Folding Top Pump with Motor Replacement.
1 Folding Top Hydraulic Cylinder Hose Retainer (Qty: 12)

Procedure

Tape off each end of the hose to prevent leakage.

Note:
  • After the cylinder hoses has been opened or removed, DO NOT move the hydraulic cylinder rod, this will prevent the fluid from squirt out of the ports.
  • When installing the hydraulic cylinder hose, install the line to the cylinder first then the motor.
2 Folding Top Hydraulic Cylinder Hose

Procedure

  1. Ensure that all hydraulic component being serviced receive new O-rings, because of high pressure.
  2. Remove the tape from the hoses.
  3. Ensure that the hydraulic fluid level is full. Refer to Folding Top Fluid Addition.
  4. Connect the power to the folding top motor.
  5. Operating and bleeding procedure. Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic System Bleeding.

Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Eye Protection Warning.
  1. Place all the windows in the full down position.
  2. Remove the folding top frame. Refer to Folding Top Frame Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the rear seat back and lower cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Removal and Installation.
  4. Remove the quarter trim panel. Refer to Quarter Trim Panel Replacement.
  5. Release the hydraulic cylinder hose (2) from the retainers (1) in the quarter panel bracket.

  6. Note: Do not disconnect the hydraulic cylinder hoses from the cylinder.
  7. Release the retaining clip from the top of the stud ball and clip and pin from the bottom of the hydraulic cylinder.
  8. Remove the hydraulic cylinder from the bracket and reposition without disconnecting hydraulic lines. Refer to Folding Top Cylinder Replacement.
  9. Remove the folding top hydraulic cylinder hose bracket bolts (1).

  10. Remove the hydraulic cylinder hose bracket (1) from the quarter panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hydraulic cylinder hose bracket (1) to the quarter panel.

  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution.
  3. Install the folding top hydraulic cylinder hose bracket bolts (1), tighten to 38 Nm (28 lb ft)

  4. Connect the hydraulic cylinder. Refer to Folding Top Cylinder Replacement.
  5. Install the pin and clip to bottom of the hydraulic cylinder bracket.
  6. Install the top of the hydraulic cylinder to the stud ball.
  7. Install the hydraulic cylinder hose (2) to the retainers (1) on the quarter panel bracket.

  8. Install the quarter trim panel. Refer to Quarter Trim Panel Replacement.
  9. Install the rear seat back and lower cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Removal and Installation.
  10. Install the folding top assembly. Refer to Folding Top Frame Removal and Installation.
  11. Place the folding top in the lock position, check for appearance and fit.
  12. Inspect the front edge of the folding top to windshield frame for a good seal.
  13. Water test the vehicle to ensure a proper water tight seal.
