Caution: Whenever the windshield side garnish molding is removed or replaced, the upper retaining clip and tether must be replaced with a new one-piece service retainer clip. Failure to replace clip may cause the windshield side garnish molding to not fit or function as designed. Do not reuse the old clip, it is a one time only use design. Do not separate the two halves of the service retainer clip.
Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
- Remove the windshield side garnish molding assembly (1) from the clip retainers on the upper side rail.

- Remove the retainer (1) from the bodyside.

- Slide a small flat-bladed tool on the outboard side to disengage the center retainer (2), maintain pressure on the tab.
- Slide another small flat-bladed tool on the opposite side of the retainer to depress the outer tabs (3), maintain pressure on the tabs.
- Rotate the retainer out parallel to the upper reinforcement body hinge pillar.
Note: Take care not to drop any portion of the retaining clip into the bodyside hinge pillar. This could cause an irreversible rattle condition.
Installation Procedure
- Install the one-piece service closed retainer (2) to the windshield side garnish molding assembly (1).
