Brake Pedal Assy

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the brake pedal position sensor electrical connector.
  2. Remove the power brake booster pushrod retainer bolt (1).

  3. Remove the power brake booster pushrod retainer (1).

  4. Remove the brake pedal assembly bolts (1).

  5. Remove the brake pedal assembly nuts (1).

  6. Disconnect the power brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal.
  7. Release the electrical harness from the retaining clips on the brake pedal bracket assembly.
  8. Carefully push against the power brake booster studs to position the power vacuum brake booster forward slightly.
  9. Maneuver the brake pedal assembly from under the instrument panel and remove the brake pedal assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Maneuver the brake pedal assembly into the installed position from under the instrument panel.
  2. Position the power vacuum brake booster rearward.
  3. Ensure the power vacuum brake booster studs engage the brake pedal assembly.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution.
  5. Install the brake pedal assembly nuts (1) and tighten to  17 Nm (13 lb ft).

  6. Install the brake pedal assembly bolts (1) and tighten to  22 Nm (16 lb ft).

  7. Connect the power brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal pivot pin.

  8. Install the power brake booster pushrod retainer (1).
  9. Install the power brake booster pushrod retainer bolt (1) and tighten to  9 Nm (80 lb in).

  10. Position the electrical harness to the brake pedal bracket assembly and secure to the routing clips.
  11. Connect the brake pedal position sensor electrical connector.
  12. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration.
